What a session is and what it isn’t
A Fjell Flow session is a guided outdoor movement experience. It is shaped by the place, the weather and the group that shows up. Sessions typically include movement, breathing, time in nature and shared moments of stillness.
What we describe, we cannot and do not guarantee. Every session is different because the conditions are different. We do not promise:
- particular weather, snow, water or trail conditions
- sightings of wildlife, northern lights or specific views
- that you will reach a particular skill level, fitness level or state of mind
- a fixed route, location or sequence of activities.
We describe our intention for a session honestly. Nature decides the rest.
A session is not medical treatment, physiotherapy, rehabilitation or therapy. We do not diagnose, treat or rehabilitate injuries or conditions. If you have a health concern, speak to a qualified health professional. Movement guidance is offered as general instruction, not as clinical advice.
What’s included and what isn’t
Included: guidance and instruction throughout the session, and any equipment specifically listed in the session description.
Not included unless otherwise stated: transport to and from the meeting point, personal clothing and footwear, personal equipment, food and drink, insurance, and any costs arising from travel to Voss.
Session descriptions state the meeting point, approximate duration, difficulty level and what to bring. Please read them before booking.
Booking and payment
A booking is confirmed when you receive written confirmation from us. Payment terms are stated at the time of booking.
Because sessions are leisure activities provided on a specific date, the ordinary 14-day right of withdrawal under the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act does not apply. Our own cancellation terms below apply instead.
Cancellation & refunds
- If you cancel more than 48 hours before the session: full refund, or move to another date at no cost.
- If you cancel within 48 hours: 50% refund, or move to another date subject to availability.
- If you do not show up (no-show) or you arrive too late to join safely: no refund.
If you cannot attend because of illness or injury, contact us as soon as you can. We will do our best to move you to another date.
If we cancel or change a session
We may cancel, shorten, postpone, relocate or modify any session where we judge it necessary for safety, because of weather or conditions, because the minimum number is not met, or because of illness or injury on our side.
If we cancel a session, you receive a full refund of the fee paid, or a place on an alternative date — whichever you prefer.
We are not responsible for any other costs. This includes, but is not limited to, travel, flights, accommodation, time off work, equipment hire, or any other expense you incurred in order to attend. Please take this into account when booking travel around a session, and consider travel insurance that covers cancellation.
If we shorten or modify a session in progress for safety reasons, no refund is due, as the session has been delivered.
Minimum number of participants: Sessions run with a minimum number of participants, stated in the session description. If the minimum is not reached, we may cancel or reschedule. You will be told as early as we reasonably can, and you may choose a full refund or a place on another date.
Weather, conditions and safety decisions
Sessions take place outdoors, most of the times in a mountain environment. Conditions change quickly. Sessions run in rain — it is part of friluftsliv! However if our representative (guide, session leader) judges the conditions not safe enough to continue, their decision and judgement are final. This includes decisions to change the route, turn back, shorten the session, change the activity, or stop entirely. Participants are asked to accept these decisions without debate for everyone’s safety at the time.
Health & participating at your own risk
You are responsible for judging whether a session is right for you.
Before your first session you will be asked to complete a short health declaration, covering anything that could affect your safety or ours — injuries, heart or respiratory conditions, epilepsy, pregnancy, medication, allergies, or anything else relevant. You must also give us an emergency contact. You must tell us if anything changes between booking and attending.
Your declaration must be honest and complete. We rely on it to keep you safe and to make decisions during the session. If you withhold or misrepresent relevant information, we may refuse your participation without refund. If in doubt about whether you are fit to participate, consult a doctor first.
By joining a session you confirm that you choose your own intensity, participate at your own fitness level, and that you have told us about any health conditions that could matter before the session starts. Sessions are outdoors on natural terrain; you take part at your own risk.
Insurance
All participants are required to hold their own valid travel and personal accident insurance covering outdoor activity, injury, medical treatment and repatriation where relevant.
Balance it Out holds liability insurance covering our own legal liability. This does not insure you personally, your belongings, or the cost of your own medical treatment. Your own insurance does that, hence all participants must have their own insurance.
Personal belongings
Participants are responsible for their own equipment, clothing and personal belongings at all times. Balance it Out does not take charge of, store or insure participants’ property, and accepts no responsibility for loss of or damage to it.
Sessions take place outdoors, near water and on uneven ground. Bring only what you’re willing to get wet, dropped or dirty, and leave valuables at home or in your vehicle.
We do not hold wallets, keys, phones or other valuables for participants under any circumstances.
Behaviour and our right to refuse participation
Participants must follow the guide’s instructions at all times and behave in a way that does not endanger themselves or others.
We may refuse participation, or ask someone to leave a session, without refund, if a person:
- is under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- is not adequately equipped or dressed for the conditions
- has given false or incomplete health information
- behaves in a way that risks the safety or wellbeing of the group
We will always try to resolve things reasonably first. This right exists for the safety of everyone present.
Participants under 18
Participants under 18 require the written consent of a parent or legal guardian, who must complete the health declaration and participation acknowledgement on their behalf. Some sessions have a minimum age, stated in the description. Younger participants may be required to be accompanied by an adult.
Right of withdrawal
The standard 14-day cancellation right for online purchases does not apply to leisure activities booked for a specific date, under the exemption in the Norwegian Cancellation Act (angrerettloven). The cancellation terms above apply instead.
Photography and media
We sometimes take photographs or short video during sessions to show what we do.
You will be asked at booking whether you consent to images that identify you being used publicly. Consent is entirely optional and never a condition of participating. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us, and we will stop using the material going forward.
If you would rather not be photographed at all, tell the guide at the start of the session.
Payment
Prices are shown per session in NOK. Until online payment is live, spots are reserved by email and paid at the session — locals can pay by Vipps on-site.
Limits of our liability
We take safety seriously and we carry liability insurance.
Outdoor activity in a mountain environment carries risks that cannot be removed entirely — uneven ground, changing weather, cold, water, and the ordinary risks of physical movement. By participating you accept those inherent risks.
We are liable for loss or injury caused by our own negligence. We are not liable for:
- injury or loss arising from the inherent risks of outdoor activity where we have acted with reasonable care
- injury or loss arising from a participant’s failure to follow instructions, or from incomplete or dishonest health information
- loss of or damage to personal belongings
- indirect or consequential losses, including travel, accommodation, lost earnings or lost time
Except where we have been negligent, our total liability to any participant is limited to the fee paid for the session.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under Norwegian law, including liability for personal injury caused by negligence.
Personal data
We collect only what we need to run a session safely and to contact you: your name, contact details, health declaration and emergency contact.
- Health information is used solely for safety during your session, is not shared beyond what is necessary in an emergency, and is deleted when no longer needed.
- Booking and payment records are kept as long as Norwegian accounting law requires.
- If an incident occurs, we keep a record of it as our insurer requires.
- We never sell your data or share it for marketing.
- You may ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time by emailing us.
- If you have signed up for our email list, every email contains an unsubscribe link.
Our full privacy notice is available at Privacy Policy – Balance it out!.
Complaints
If something wasn’t right, tell us. Email info@balance-it-out.com and we will respond within 14 days and try to resolve it directly. If we can’t resolve it, you may bring the matter to Forbrukertilsynet or Forbrukerrådet.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Norwegian law.
